Birds and Branches

One of the motifs I adore mostly in my jewelry collection is that of a bird on a branch.

The idea developed back when I was studying for my degree in industrial design, during one of the classes in which I designed jewelry inspired by electric poles and wires along with a friend. One of the designs I created was a necklace which combined 2 chains that resembled the electric wires and 2 birds that sat on the chains.

I mostly liked the way that the item as a whole piece turned into a “surrounding” that tells a story, and the different elements joined together to create a realistic picture, in smaller dimensions.

As time went by, the electric wires turned into more gentle branches and those too, like the birds, reflected a different character with each design. I like watching my customers selecting their own personal bird – each one with her unique character. Sometimes I can actually guess which bird a customer will choose for herself.

In my latest Summer 2010 Collection, as in prior collections, I incorporated the bird on a branch motif in a few necklaces and in a hair pin that I designed.
